Hand names add to the colour and fun of poker. There is no definitive list; hand names come and go and have regional variations. For instance on my old poker forum MLP, A-Q was known as the 'MLP hand.' This came about during a brief period when many of the regular MLP players crashed out of tournaments holding A-Q. The feeling that the hand was jinxed became the object of spurious debate.

8-8 has several names The Snowmen, Double Infinity, the Mighty Wurlitzer and the Racetrack. I call them ‘two fat ladies’ because the Volvo truck ‘F88’ model was nicknamed by British lorry drivers, ‘two fat ladies’. In my list of hand names 8-8 appears five times.
