The Poker Gods

Athena - The Goddess of Wisdom
Athena is the goddess that many poker players aspire to.
She is the goddess of wisdom, the arts, inner beauty, education and war. She
is one of the great divinities of the Greeks.
If tournament poker can be compared to a battle ground, her warrior status
would be helpful when the button is forever raising your big blind. |
 |
As a poker god she will influence the aggressive player in making them think
before they act in haste. She has a prudent outlook which in a game of skill,
may prove very useful.
It is written that when Hercules went on a mad killing rampage, Athena was the
god who stepped in with an aggressive action to prevent the disaster from
getting worse. Her wisdom here could be useful when you feel a tilt coming
on.
Athena is one of the most beautiful poker gods in both form and spirit and
possess a characteristic degree of modesty. Some confuse her modest attitude
for her being unemotional; you will not find her whooping with delight as she
takes an opponent out of a tournament.
One word of warning; if you are sat across the poker table from this poker god,
do not spend one moment gazing at her beauty. She has the fire power to go with
her manner. Once when bathing, Athena caught an enraptured onlooker Teiresias,
spying on her from outside her bathroom window.
Athena's measured response for gazing at her naked charms, was to lay her hands
over Teiresias eye's and blind him.
Maybe with a pang of guilt she bestowed inward sight on Teiresias and an ability
to understand signs that tell of the future. I guess all in all, it was a mixed
day for Teiresias.
In summary, the poker god Athena wisely uses her prudence to temper her aggression
and her power when necessary. |
